Overview

This article details how to install the Cloudhouse Auto Packager which is used to create Cloudhouse Compatibility Containers™.

There are two scenarios for installing the Auto Packager:

Installing the Auto Packager on a computer with Internet Access

Our preferred method of installing the Auto Packager is on a computer with Internet access, primarily as every time the Auto Packager loads, it checks to see if you are running the latest version (if you are not, any updates are applied before the Auto Package is launched to ensure you are producing the Container with the latest version of the binaries).

Step-by-step process

To install the Cloudhouse Auto Packager on a computer with Internet access:

Note

We recommend you use Chrome. If you want to use Internet Explorer (IE), a minimum of IE version 8 is required on Windows XP/Server 2003 to download the Auto Packager launcher executable.

  1. From a computer with Internet access, sign in to the Cloudhouse portal (https://prod.cloudhouse.com/) using the details provided to you by Cloudhouse. Cloudhouse Portal
  2. Click LAUNCH to download the Cloudhouse Auto Packager.
Click Launch to downlaod the Auto Packager
  3. Once downloaded, double-click cloudhouseautopackagerlauncher.exe to launch the Auto Packager and run a check to ensure you are running the latest version.

Note

When installing older versions of the Auto Packager, you may see the End User License Agreement screen, whose terms you must agree to before you can proceed. We always recommend running the latest version of the Auto Packager.

The Auto Packager is then downloaded and installed.
The Auto Packager is then downloaded and installed.

Once installed, the Auto Packager launches automatically (click Yes if prompted by User Account Control to allow the Packager to make changes).
Once installed, the Auto Packager launches automatically

If you plan to use the Auto Packager, you can leave it open, otherwise close it until you are ready to use it.

Installing the Auto Packager on a computer without Internet Access

If the computer on which you are packaging the application does not have Internet access, use the following process to install the Auto Packager.

Note

Using this method to install the Auto Packager is not recommended as the Auto Packager does not check for any updates each time it loads.

See How to update the Auto Packager on a computer without Internet access if you need to update an existing version of the Auto Packager on a computer without Internet access.

Step-by-step process

To install the Cloudhouse Auto Packager on a computer without Internet access:

  1. Download and install the Auto Packager on a computer that does have Internet access.
  2. Navigate to the C:\ProgramData\Cloudhouse\Packager folder and copy this and its contents to the Packaging Computer (if it is reachable on the network), or to a USB key. Either way, ensure the folder and its contents are created on the Packaging Computer in exactly the same location as the computer they were copied from.

Tip

If you want to create a desktop shortcut for the Auto Packager, specify the following in the Target field:

C:\ProgramData\Cloudhouse\Packager\AutoPackager.exe

and Start in to:

C:\ProgramData\Cloudhouse\Packager
